ok..the opening world cup match has started. finally.germany was without ballack.not that it mattered much.i guess a comfortable win was expected off them.maybe not that high scoring?it was a pleasant match to watch, just that i must say the crowd brought the whole atmosphere down.
like 6 minutes into the game, philip lahm, top of my wishlist in my every FM/CM game, ran down the flanks, got the ball, cut in a curlled a well placed shot just beyond the keeper's reach.was a bit lucky there, as there was a deflection.6 minutes later, costa rica shot back.unexpectedly.paulo wanchope.never heard of him in a long long time.thought he retired liao.anyway, it was dubious as many people thought he was off side.but his finish was sublime.
klose...the jack ass, that does not deserve anything but since it was his birthday, nicked in 2 lucky goals.guess its a striker's instinct.kudos to him being in the right place at right time though...(i'm a neutral fan in this match)
3-1, and now... a real real controversial moment. wanchope.. seemingly offside(to the cameras) from a brilliant threaded through pass by walter centano, stroked the ball past lehman. wanchope had 2 chances.he scored with both.
3-2...nearing the end..a miracle happened....a freekick from about 35 yards, from schwein-something, a rolling ball. 2 costa ricans and thorsten frings were chasing it.i thought nothing would happen.but.frings struck the ball as sweetly as gerard would to score an absolute screamer to the top right of porras's net.
4-2 the final score. Costa rica did not play badly..they did not make many major mistakes.germans really outplayed them..
nice first game. got the mood up. lol.i predicted a 3-1 germ win.close anyway.
2nd match, poland vs ecudor.
